If you are adult enough to have sex?

I see a lot of people say things like "if you are grown up enough to have sex, you are adult enough to take responsibility"- but like, legally, they don't have the right to make certain decisions with parental consent...
So, should minors be given more autonomy over their reproductive health if we all know they'll be making certain adult decisions?
I actually just want opinions about the topic in general. :) 
I guess i have never understood exactly why people say that to people asking for advice, they literally have no choice but to take responsibility. But im also not saying I disagree, unless it's used to shame people for doin regular shit. Obviously we have to take responsibility for our lives, but "suck it up" isn't a real answer.. lol
I've seen this response in person & on lots of other forums, including this one, for years and years. Just wanted to see other ppls thoughts.

At 16 I was "adult" enough to make almost all my own choices. The only thing I wasn't was my mental health, thankfully where I live that has now changed. 
So yes teens should be allowed to control what happens their bodies when it comes to reproductive choices.

In the U.S. minors already have rights to reproductive health without parental consent. A minor aged 13+ can receive services exclusively related to sexual health (STI & pregnancy testing and prevention) without parental knowledge or permission. 
As for abortion, I don’t want to get into a debate since it’s a banned topic, and I won’t be responding to any comments arguing ethics on the subject. However, for educational purposes 49 of the 50 states have ways to circumvent parental permission (Utah is the exception). Each state differs in detail of how*, but Planned Parenthood typically offers information to minors on what they need to do. 
*For my state it’s either any non sibling family member can grant permission, or a judges order.

People say that because they want to punish and shame pregnant teens. The saying is stupid. It makes no sense. Children can do stupid things that is supposed to be for adults only. Like drinking alcohol. Children engaging in adult activities doesn’t make them adults. And anyone who says something stupid like that is annoying.

I’m having a hard time following what you’re asking but my mom had my sister at 17. She absolutely needed my grandparents to direct her or my sister would of likely suffered greatly. If you have sex and things happen and you get pregnant you should always have the option to change that. I disagree how if you’re under 18 you sometimes need parental permission to end a pregnancy. There should be more options for minors to do this anonymously

In Canada young people do have autonomy over thier bodies. Had I gotten pregnant and wanted to explore my options I would have seen our schools nurse practitioner and pursued whichever option I choose. I have lots of friends who got prescptions for birth control without parental consent, and were even treated for std's without parental consent. The nurse had an office in our school part time and also taught sex ed.

I use that phrase quite a bit on here actually. Girls/women post on here “idk what to do, I had sex without a condom and I want BC but idk how to ask” and I fully believe in said phrase “if your adult enough to have sex then you should be adult enough to ask/tell your parents that you need BC.” My step sister was 15/16 when she started having sex and she immediately came to her mother and my dad and told them that she was/is sexually active but she did not want to get pregnant so she wanted BC. The next day an appointment was made 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
Honestly I’d much rather my child come to me and tell me “I need protection, I’m sexually active” than coming to me “hey mom I got a girl pregnant” 
My opinion. 
I understand not all parents are so easy going but I’m sure they’d rather hear you say “I need protection” than “I’m pregnant” or “I got someone pregnant”

I think it’s best to have parents involved because a child that decides to be sexually active isn’t somehow magically an adult. 
Unfortunately, not every child has parents that will advocate for them or help them navigate some of the potentially weighty consequences without judgement. Because of that, I don’t think that requiring parent involvement in reproductive health decisions should be legally required.  If a child and parent have a healthy relationship, hopefully the child will turn to their parent for help without the need for laws forcing the issue.

I’ve been going to my doctor alone since I was 14. My mother was never an advocate for my health. I’ve always been the one to stand up for my medical needs and that’s for the best. I am for teenagers taking control of their health. Honestly? Most of the time parents don’t genuinely care about your health. My mother cared more about having a normal child instead of a child that was severely mentally ill with a chronic pain condition. If I wasn’t able to advocate for my health I’d be dead by now. At 14 years old I do believe you are capable for advocating for your own health
