Alabama Abortion Ban

💕

I am beyond appalled that this passed. Do lawmakers really see through a tunnel? Do they not understand the economic and societal impact this will have? Do we have enough welfare services available to financially support people who would otherwise abort due to financial reasons? Are there enough behavioral health services to provide free therapy to those who got pregnant with a rapists baby? What about healthcare costs for poverty areas for women who try to abort at home and obviously will cause themselves injury? Are adoption agencies prepared for the influx of children? What about the costs for the maternity care for those who couldn’t afford the healthcare to maintain the pregnancy? What about the specialty healthcare needed for special needs children that were found to have terminal/complex health issues while in utero that otherwise would’ve been terminated?

The penalty for a doctor who performs an abortion in Alabama is 99 years in prison. I would love to know the penalty for a rapist in Alabama. My guess is it doesn’t even begin to relate to the actual trauma created whereas a doctor doing what the patient wanted would get life?!

Edit: This isn’t meant to dictate opinions on the ethics of abortion, but evaluate the actual impact of enacting a law like this.
