Is it rude to ask for gift cards instead of gifts for a baby shower?

My family doesn’t do baby showers/gifts! So for me to ask for anything would come off rude! We have to provide for our own! But if you are being thrown a shower, I would ask the person hosting to put in the invites something along the lines of, “Hoosey Flobbin is registered at Amazon! You can find the registry at this link! The mom and dad to be would also be greatful for gift cards to amazon, Walmart, etc!”

Since this is my first I'm reminding people to stick to my registry and that we need a lot of things since we don't currently have anything... That way I don't end up with 87 onesies 🤣 it's your baby ask what you want!!!
