Landlord is on drugs, move?
I just found out our landlord is doing drugs so we're basically funding his addiction with our rent. Would you move? He's always been a nice guy, always asks how our kids are doing. He's a recently retired carpenter. The rent is good and we have never had problems. It takes a long time for him to fix things, that would be our only complaint. When our ac broke down in April last year he didn't fix it until September, and it's our only source of heating up the house so that was a bit annoying, as we're living in a cold climate. Our landlord owns a few properties and get all his income from them, and his retirement savings I guess. The properties are in good shape so he doesn't have to do much. I know his wife does drugs, but somehow I didn't expect him to do them as well. Drugs are very illegal where we live with long prison sentences, however you can't just call the police saying someone does drugs, you need a hefty amount of evidence before they'd care about your accusations. They're busy doing other things. He's doing hard drugs, not just smoking weed or so. I guess it doesn't really affect us, but I don't feel good finding someone's addiction. We don't know him so we can't just start talking to him about rehab and stuff. We barely see him anyway. What would you do? I hope I don't come across as judgemental or heartless.
