Breastfeeding is a major pain...literally! 😩

Elizabeth

My baby is now 2 weeks old, and breastfeeding is still incredibly painful. When baby was first born, his sucking felt like razor blades on my breasts. It’s gotten slightly better, but his latch is still initially very painful, and my breasts are ALWAYS sore and very tender - I can’t even hug my husband or hold my baby to the chest because of the pain. Pediatrician confirmed that there’s no tongue tie issues, and I even hired a lactation nurse to visit me at home - she spent three hours with me and baby and ensured that latch/positioning/etc were correct. I’m producing enough milk, and the pain is always present (even when I’m not engorged). I’ve tried ibuprofen, cold compresses, and epsom salt baths...NOTHING is working and I HATE breastfeeding. I’ve started giving him formula at night, and I LOVE giving him a bottle (I can actually enjoy him and feeding time rather than dread his cries of hunger.) I’m at the point where I want to stop breastfeeding because the pain isn’t easing up, but I feel guilty for throwing in the towel. Is the pain supposed to last this long and, if so, how many more weeks do I have to try and push through?
