When you date someone without making things official yet, do you only date the one person or multiple people?

If I can feel it’s going to become something exclusive soon, I date that one person. But to each their own, I totally understand the whole “we aren’t committed, so I have every right to date other people” argument! Personally if I see things becoming exclusive, surely I’m wanting to ONLY be with that person

I have dated around, I consider myself polyamourous, but I tend to like to stick to one person, it's just less complicated than having to explain seeing multiple people. I think it's fine to date around, but I tend to pick particular people to invest in emotionally. 
I could do that with several, but im antisocial, and I barely like anyone, and most people I have dated wouldn't like it, so im more cautious about that to respect ppls feelings.
