Babyshower for 2nd baby?

Does it make sense to have a baby shower for a second baby? First is just 4 months old so we still have all of our furniture. But I was thinking of maybe doing a shower for my current pregnancy if it is a boy to hopefully get some help with clothes and diapers and whatnot. Is that selfish?

I personally dont find 2nd baby showers appropriate especially since you just had a baby. Having a shower shouldnt be about getting stuff that you need in order to have a baby.

I would say if you were just celebrating him/her, it wouldn’t be weird, but you’re doing it for gifts, which is tacky and kind of greedy-sounding to me. But ofc, that is your choice, so if you want to, don’t let anyone stop you. Congrats!

Everyone should be able to celebrate every baby regardless of genitals or age gap if they want to. If you don’t need gifts or just need diapers and wipes you can say so in the invites. I personally would never invite anyone that thinks it tacky or greedy - it sounds stuck up to me. Generally family members and friends love getting together to celebrate baby, eat good food and play silly games. If you’re not a fan of multiple showers than just choose not to go.

I'm a fan of having a party for each child to celebrate them, but especially since your first is so new still I would say don't ask for gifts as it would seem selfish to your guests.
If you want them to bring diapers you can do a raffle or something, but I would not expect a ton of people to participate. Many people do 'sprinkles' or gender reveal parties for any babies after their first so they can still celebrate their baby but they aren't asking people to buy them things like for a shower.

Baby showers are to celebrate the baby. It sounds like you want it more to provide the things you need for a baby. In my family we celebrate each baby but don’t expect gifts after the 1st one, especially if you’re gonna keep popping them out lol

Where I’m from it’s a huge faux pas to have a shower for a second child. Maybe if there are like 10 years between, but this close absolutely not. Maybe do a diaper party? But I would not attend a shower under these circumstances.

I know this isn’t the norm but I think every pregnancy should have a party! Not because of the gifts but because I think each new life is so worth celebrating with family and friends. And if they bring gifts then thats a kind bonus. So I don’t know what you would call that. A fun get together to celebrate a new pregnancy .. I guess that’s a shower?   Haha! 
I get the uniqueness of a first time pregnancy but seriously why all the emphasis on the first and none on the rest? Never made total sense to me! 
But anyway, this doesn’t seem to be the norm. People might get the wrong impression with throwing a second one.
