Pap smears during early pregnancy?

I have been reading mixed opinions concerning Pap smears being correlated to early miscarriages. I know that paps are performed at the first prenatal exam and was wondering how others felt about maybe holding off on a pap? Does it cause miscarriage or is it just a coincidence in some cases?

my doctor waits until 12 weeks to do one.  and he does one even if not sue for one.

I had one - honestly the transvagibal ultrasound is just as invasive.

I had a sono done 8 weeks 8 days with video of measurements and heartbeat... Then a pap.  
When I went in at 12 weeks for another sono the baby had no heartbeat measuring 8 weeks 8 days 
I dont know for sure why I had a missed miscarriage but the time frame makes scense to believe its not good.

I had one. It was lightly done. They only do it if you're due one. The guidelines now say you only need one every two years now.

Doctors wouldn't knowlingly endanger the baby. Miscarriages are more common before 6-7 weeks. By week 8 you have less than 3% chance of miscarriage. That being said - 3% isn't zero.

If sex is ok in first tri why wouldn't a pap be?  (Yes I know some women implant low and can't have sex...)

If you're still concerned then hold off first appt until 7-8 weeks or more.

I have had a pap in the 1st tri with my boys and their healthy 4 and 2 year olds.
