Have you ever gone to a rave? Did anything bad happen?

My 16 year old brother wants to go to this rave that is for all ages. At first my grandma (who has custody of him) and I didn't think anything of it, but now my mom found out he's going and is telling us that there's alot of drinking and drugs and shootings and stampedes and stabbings that happen at raves. I think my brother is smart enough not to do hardcore drugs since he knows the affect they can have on him with his physical health issues. But are there really shootings, stampedes, and stabbings that happen at raves? I've never been to one because flashing lights give me seizures, and I'm not into that stuff.

that shit can happen anywhere.. but typically when there is drugs and alcohol involved in ANY place, or lots of people (crowding) anything can happen.. you guys do you, but i’m pretty sure i wouldn’t let a 16 year old go to a rave.. maybe 18, but definitely 21 if there’s alcohol involved.

If that person is drunk or coked up or something they might just beat the living shit out of him for a simple reason like that.
Those people are the people that go to raves. Its not safe.

Typically I wouldn’t think a rave is for kids, but , I feel like an all ages rave would attract a younger demographic... so maybe a lil safer than a regular rave. 
Overall your mom’s concerns are veering off into the alarmist side. Cause shootings and stabbings can happen anywhere. I’ve been to a couple of house/electronic festivals (so sort of like raves?) and they’ve been fun. just don’t be a jackass, stick to your group, and hydrate. I’ve never see anyone gets stabbed or shot or even a fight. If anything, everyone is vibing to the music together. Also drugs are expensive so I doubt a stranger is just gonna be passing out coke or mdma or whatever.. though people might be on that stuff, it doesn’t necessarily make people violent. Stampedes are not really a thing either (though those could happen at any type of concert if you’re really gonna be concerned about that) 
So idk. If the 16yo is mature enough and understands how to be safe I would probably be ok with letting them.

I was at a rave that was busted once, people chanting “f*** the police” and being loaded into paddy wagons because of all the drugs and underage drinking (my friends and I weren’t 21 either) Not for kids. Maybe because it’s all ages it’s like toddlers and stuff too.. like just a kid thing.
