Help!!! Teething baby

My son will be 5 months in two weeks and he is teething! The other night he woke up once every hour crying. He never cries random and sleeps really good in his crib. But it seemed he was hurting because of teething and just wanted to be comforted? I used the gel for him gums but I don't want him to get used to being in my arms but at the same time I want to make him feel better. Yes I know it's bad to co-sleep but it is seriously the only way he will stay asleep. But again, I don't want to get him used to it and I don't think he will because last night he wasnt hurting as bad and he slept ALL night in his crib like usual. Are there any tips?
