Toddler % dropped down a bunch?

Has anyone had a toddler that dropped a bunch in the growth charts? He used to be around the 85th percentile for height (this was during 9m-12m), but we measured him the other day and now he's towards the 27th percentile for his current age of 22 months. What happened? His 2 year pedi visit isn't until August.

My 3 year old dropped.  He was in the 40th range and dropped to 5th - only in height, not weight.
The dr wasn’t concerned, but I was....so I pushed for extra testing.  Now we have to go in for a height/weight check every two months - which is opposite overkill.  He grew just in time for our first recheck.  Then he grew another inch before the next recheck, so he was back up around 30th percentile.
