To induce or not to induce?

Question

I’ll be 41 weeks on Friday. I have another NST scheduled (had one today) for then. 
Everything has been healthy so far and baby tested great this morning. 
Docs don’t want to schedule and induction if I don’t go into labor by then. 
What are your thoughts? Should I let them induce this weekend?

I’d do it before reaching 42 weeks as the risks of neonatal death increase at 42 weeks. I probably wouldn’t before then if there are no medical comcerns. I had an induction and while it wasn’t that bad, I would try to avoid it if it’s not necessary :) x

I induced at 41+3... that is a good number to give your baby as much extra time as possible, but ensures the baby is out before 42 weeks. Induction can take several days. If you need cervidil, most people have 2 doses then 24 hours waiting after each before they start potocin. That makes for three days after the induction starts before baby comes. 
I was induced and had a rare reaction to the cervidil that saw it induce contractions that were very long and super close together from the very beginning. Even with that (which made for a rough first 12 hours until I hit 4 cm), being induced was not that bad. I had the epidural at 4 cm and got some sleep, and it was all very civilized from there. I’m glad I did it when I did because I was satisfied I gave my body time before accepting that baby needed some help.

I really enjoyed my induction experience, and I was so nervous beforehand. I got cytotec at
8 am, pitocin started at noon, contractions werent painful at all until 6 pm, epidural at 7:30, pushing at 9:30, baby at 10:15. This was my second, and I actually enjoyed it more than my all natural spontaneous labor birth with my first which i never expected

I go induced at almost 41 weeks and had a really smooth and quick labor. Got induced around 10pm the night before by putting a pull in my cervix. Then I started pitocin around 5:45am. Starting pushing at 11:30 and baby was here by 11:50! And it was my first :) I was torn on whether or not to induce because I know it can make a longer labor but I was happy I did and had a good experience
