Not "Believing" in things that exist?

Question

Running into my pet peeves here. People who don't "believe" in marriage, or divorce or birth control, or sex before marriage, or corporal punishment or the death penalty, or vaccines, or abortion 
I get that people are saying that they don't agree with whatever it is conceptually but I always thought the phrase just sounds silly, like saying "I don't believe in clouds" although I guess flat earthers might say clouds are fake....
Does this phrasing bother anyone else?

I get what you're saying. Like when people say "I don't believe in transgender"- well you can believe trans people don't exist all you want but they do 🙄

Not really.
Especially when it comes to something like marriage. You’re saying I don’t believe in the whole concept of marriage. Sure it exists/happens, but it’s a human created thing that many people find unnecessary.

I agree with you. If they don’t agree with the concept of marriage, then they should say THAT. Marriage isn’t like the Easter bunny or santa, it exists so it’s not really an option to not believe in something that’s already real lol

I get what you're saying, but I feel like in most cases it's just a figure of speech. Yes, it would be more accurate to say that you don't agree with something as opposed to saying you don't believe in something.

I dont really understand your poll and the question. People are entitled to believe or believe what they decide although some of it sounds silly lol

Literally doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t believe in something that’s their personal beliefs. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Just because I don’t believe in something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or it isn’t real it means I choose not to follow it or go by it for whatever reason. 😌
