what is this and how can i get rid of it?

i’ve had what started as an ingrown hair for a few months now but i left it alone waiting for the hair to the surface but recently it’s gotten worse. the bump itself is purple, around it my skin is red and slightly yellowish, and around that it’s just red. the bump and surrounding areas are really tender and painful, also i can feel a lump next to the bump but idk if it’s connected or not. i thought maybe the ingrown hair was infected but i don’t know for sure. (sorry for the hair i’ve been too scared to shave because i don’t want to pop it or anything).
