Should I be worried of preeclampsia?

Today at my baby shower when I would look down I would see a blurred flash and I am seeing spots in my vision right now, it keeps flashing blackish in my right eye. I feel a bit light headed too. Should I be worried or concerned ? I’ve eaten two meals today and had fluids so I’m pretty sure that’s not it. Idk what to do it’s worrying me. But my doctor isn’t open today or tomorrow

Blurred vision can mean dozens of things from low blood sugar, dehydration, allergies, over exertion, changing positions too quickly, preeclampsia symptom, a migraine about to hit, or even just normal a pregnancy symptom causing you to start needing glasses. You really have to check your blood pressure and have a doctor check your urine for protein to confirm pre-e.

Blurred vision is definitely a symptom but the real concern is your blood pressure. High blood pressure combined with blurred vision or other symptoms like excessive swelling in your feet and legs, or upper quadrant pain would get you a diagnosis of preeclampsia. I went in for my glucose test at 27 weeks. My BP was high so they sent me straight over to L&D for monitoring. I didn’t leave the hospital until I delivered 5 weeks later at 32 weeks. They take preeclampsia very seriously so if you take your BP and it’s high, just go straight into triage in the maternity ward at your hospital. They will monitor you and take it from there. You don’t need a referral, just call and tell them you are in the way. It’s definitely a scary experience but if I hadn’t gone in, I wouldn’t have my daughter snuggled up next to me.
