Was asked if I’m pregnant yesterday....(I’m not)

M

Yesterday I was asked if I was pregnant... not only that, this man basically made it clear that he was breaking his rule of never asking that question because I was so obviously pregnant... To be clear, I’m not pregnant and not trying to get pregnant.

To be fair, I was wearing a maybe not-so-flattering shirt with ruffles down the front, which was also cinched at the waist (see pics below). But still.

Luckily I’m confident enough in my mom bod to not head into a downward spiral but it was still really humiliating and extremely awkward. I can totally see how crushing this question could be to women with body image issues.

So PSA - NEVER ASK A WOMAN IF SHES PREGNANT!

(No filters, no tricky angles. This is literally what my body looks like, which is apparently large enough to look pregnant these days).

EDIT - Thank you all so much for the compliments and the reassurance that I don’t look pregnant! I honestly wasn’t here looking for that because I personally don’t feel like I look pregnant but your comments made me feel good anyway. I was really trying to get across two things:

1. It’s sad when we live in a world where this size is apparently some men’s standard for looking pregnant.

2. Be careful what you say to people because although this didn’t really hurt my feelings, it was humiliating and probably WOULD have crushed me if I had body image issues. Based on these comments, I think this point would be better directed at the male population.
