Hanging out at the fair with a guy

Okay I need y’alls advice. So im friends with this guy and he wants to go to the fair with me and I already knew I was going and I really wanna hang out with him at the fair but idk what my parents would say if I asked if I could hang out with him and I already know they’re gonna ask if its a guy or girl and they’ll make a big deal out of it and say I like him and I’ll say I don’t but they’ll say I do. Advice?
