I think it depends on the level of irresponsibility. Spending too much on daily gas station breakfast isn’t the same as going negative with accounts. I used to have a running balance on my credit card but since meeting my husband, we always pay it off in full twice per month (when we get paid). People can learn to be better with finances but someone who can’t figure out how to pay bills despite being paid enough is an issue.

It depends. My SO isn’t horrible but isn’t the best. I’m great at saving, so we decided I would do the budgeting/bills/etc so we always stay on track. If he wanted to be in charge of it while still being less than awesome with money, I would have a problem with it

Yes my childhood was an absolute mess cause my stepdad constantly lied about/spent money without consulting my mom. Resulting in us being homeless several times from age 6-18. My husband is very responsible with money and saves as much as possible and I’m the same. We always are responsible cause we have our daughter to think about and want her to have a better childhood/life than we did.

Absolutely. Look up statistics for marriage failures and you'll see how big of a deal finances are on a couples relationship. No way in hell I'd marry someone who is incapable of that responsibility.
