Haven’t worn a short sleeve since I was in Kindergarten.

Well, the title basically sums up my point of everything. I have a birthmark on my right arm. As soon as I found out about it, I cried to my mom.

I was in Kindergarten at the time so she used to draw petals around it like a flower.

But, of course that didn’t last long.

I started wearing long sleeves only. All throughout elementary and high school, and now I’m 18, almost 19.

And I can 100% tell you guys that

I haven’t worn a short sleeve, or anything that shows above my elbow,

since that last marker flower on my arm.

When I go to the beach, I wear a cover up and stay in the deep end so nobody can see my birthmark.

If only it was lighter in color. It’s not.

It’s dark, and I am very pale so it stands out.

It’s black, and it’s a little bigger than a quarter size.

I don’t know what to do. I just want to feel “free” but as I’m a perfectionist, I don’t see myself wearing a short sleeve.

I’ve been w my boyfriend for a little over a year and he has never seen it besides I think one time at the beach last summer.

I don’t really know what I’m asking for.

Advice?

I just felt like I needed to tell someone.
