Has anyone ever lost a parent while pregnant?

Saturday I lost my father to Lou Gehrig’s disease.  I am 12 weeks pregnant, and I have been under a lot of stress due to the loss of my father.  I guess my question is if anyone has gone through a tough loss while pregnant, but the baby was still ok?  He wanted to hang on so badly to meet our baby, but unfortunately he didn’t 😢.  It really breaks my heart.

I am so so sorry. I have never been through that. I just had to say my heart goes out to you. Only advice I have is to just let yourself grieve. Cry, be angry, lean on those around you. Holding it in will only cause more stress.

I’m 21 weeks and my dad just told a few days ago that they found cancer in his neck. I dropped the phone and when into  full on hysterics, my husband was so confused because he thought something had happened to our baby. I’ve been trying to not stress or even think about him not being around when my son is due. They’re still running so many tests, but I started to freak myself thinking that I have hurt my baby for how upset I was when he told me the news. 
With my second daughter 2 yrs ago my grandfather had been fighting cancer and he passed a month and half before she was born. His funeral was a week after I had her. Everyone was so upset with me for going. The heart break is indescribable but grieve and take care of your self.

I’m so sorry for your loss hun... My father passed away 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant and I’m now 22.5 weeks. It’s been really hard on me and I have gone through so many ups and downs crying myself to sleep at night. The baby is actually doing just fine so I wouldn’t stress too much. My dad was my best friend so it was extremely hard for me. It’ll take some time but you will slowly heal.

I lost my grandfather when I was 5 weeks pregnant with my daughter. He was a father to me because my actual father wasn't. It was a very hard pill to swallow even though I saw it coming for years. My daughter was born healthy at 41 weeks though 😊 
Grief won't hurt your baby, don't worry. There are women out there that lose their partners or husbands during pregnancy and continue to have a healthy baby.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss 💜💜💜  I lost my Dad 8 years ago, I wasn’t pregnant then but I am now and can fully appreciate how difficult it would be. Let yourself grieve, take time for yourself and self care, surround yourself with a good support system, ask for help if you need it and take help when it’s offered. Talk to your little babe and share memories of your Dad. Sending you and your family lots of strength, peace and love 💜
