Anyone else struggle with this?

My husband and I have just made our appointment for our first consultation. Was anyone else uncomfortable with the semen analysis portion? I guess it just seems really weird (I know it's necessary) but how do you get over being uncomfortable with it? Maybe it's just me! Thanks :)

It was awkward and uncomfortable for me to think about it but my husband said it was funny. Our clinic had a private room
With a comfy recliner type chair and a computer with a dirty website pulled

We didn’t have trouble with this, but everyone is different. My husband just kept joking that his portion of the process was super easy compared to mine. 😋so that’s one way to look at it! His friend who had to do IVF as well almost spilled his cup on the day of the egg retrieval! 😲 so they do need to be careful. If you’re near your clinic you can usually do it at home (and it is actually suggested). In my opinion it’s a small price to pay to hopefully get your dream of a family! We just think of it as part of the whole medical process and that takes away some awkwardness!

Millions of dudes have to do this. Not sure if it helps to think of it as being a relatively common practice.
My husband also didn’t want to talk about it and I agreed. But then later he did because the experience was somewhat hilarious and not at all like we had imagined. Movies make it seem like you go into this man cave full of porn, but his room was tiny, sterile and basically just a chair with a puppy pad. And a woman on the other side of the door waiting for the sample! Unfortunately we don’t live close enough to bring in a sample from home, but he survived!

My husband was super anxious about his, and he wanted me to not ask him about it and not talk about it. Afterwards I asked him and he said it was easier to just not think of it much and think of it like a task and get it over with.  The nice thing about it is that generally it's one and done. Also everyone else at the clinic has probably had to experience this so you're not alone!

The day of our initial consultation they gave us a cup to take home and I had to schedule an appointment to drop the sample off. We are only 15 min from our clinic so I just had to keep the cup in my shirt to keep it warm on the way there. I think it made it a little easier to do at home versus going to the office to get the sample.
