Baby monitor at night?

Question

I am planning on moving my baby to his crib in his own room at night here soon, as he is outgrowing his bassinet. Just wondering what others use for a baby monitor as I currently only have an audio one. Is that good enough? I feel like I would prefer a video monitor but we just don’t have the money to purchase a decent one at this time (and I know I’d be staring at it all night 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Honestly I have a video monitor and I do tend to stare at it, but it's so worth it to me. Video can tell me if he's in a deep sleep, tossing and turning, or about to wake up so I find it useful. When I get him back down in the middle of the night I watch the video monitor for a few extra minutes to see if it's worth going back to sleep or if I'll need to get up and settle him again 🤷‍♀️

We have video monitor. With our in window ACs in its harder to hear him even tho he’s in the next room. 
It’s also nice to look at the monitor while still in our bed and watch for a min before going in to see if he can self soothe himself back to sleep. I think if I walked in to the nursery on our creaky wood floors he’d hear me and wake up more instead of self soothe back to sleep.

I might be the only mom that doesn’t worry about my little guy at night. We moved him to his crib at 4 weeks old because he mumbles so much in his sleep that we weren’t sleeping. We have a video monitor, but we never use it at night. When he’s awake, he’s loud enough that we can hear him from our room. This also keeps us from jumping up every time he whimpers and requires him to learn to self-soothe.

We bought a 70$ dollars one from amazon (probably even cheaper in the states, were canadian) and it works great. My daughter has been sleeping in her room since 4 weeks old and I needed to adjust at forst with the video monitor but now I only wake up if she’s crying.

We use an audio monitor, but the baby’s room is like three feet away. I think I’d do a video monitor if he was farther away

Baby still sleeps with us but we have an audio monitor we plan to use when we move her to her nursery. I already use it during the day as she naps in her crib. We opted for an audio one because we didn’t want to obsess over it and thought this would happen with a video monitor. I sometimes regret my decision as I also worry when she’s quiet and not only when she is crying 🙈🙈🙈 but in the end I’m glad we didn’t give in. Let’s see how it works once she starts sleeping in her own room but for now I think it’s actually teaching me to let go and worry less about her than if I could watch her through the camera
