Adventure turning into a Staycation

Has anyone has to fight their DH to leave an area that was suppose to be a one year adventure?

We moved to a new state under a one yr contract for school/work. We got married before we left on this adventure. However, we have dated for over 10 yrs. Now the 1 yr contract is up and he wants to buy property out here. I told him I was willing to stay an additional year. Now, he is talking about building a house. If we build a house here, I know I will never be allowed to leave....I am so pissed. Please help me out. What can I do? How so I reason with him?
