Adoption?

So today a good friend of ours came to me and said she's just found out shes 6 weeks pregnant. She is using the arm implant birth control but she took a supplement that we didnt know cancels out the effects and now shes pregnant. The father dont want kids at all and CPS has her other 3 children, they were all taken at birth and she was in the system herself growing up. Shes worried they will take this one as well and came to me and my fiance with the option of us adopting the baby and being on the birth certificate as legal parents and her still being involved in the childs life. We have no idea how to go about this... any advice and help will be greatly appreciated
