Has anyone used Afrin to help with colds or second trimester congestion?

I’ve had a cold and haven’t slept for 3 days because I can’t breathe and am stopped up. The doctor says to use Flonase but it hasn’t worked at all. I’m doing saline nose spray, hot steam, and neti pot and nothing is working. Help ladies!

I have used Afrin a couple of times through pregnancy, but sparingly. I only do 1 spray in each nostril, (instead of the 2 or 3 the box says) and I don't use it more than once a day, 2 nights in a row (even though the box says twice a day, 3 days). My doctor is Anti-Afrin because she personally became addicted to it, which is super easy to do. But she didn't say anything about it potentially hurting the baby, just that she didn't want me relying on it heavily. I have also tried Flonaze and it did NOTHING for me, so I feel your struggle. I can't sleep with my mouth open, so when my nose is stuffy at night I HAVE to take something.

I used Flonase and it helped. Used it twice a day. You can also take Benadryl I believe... that might help!

I just got over a cold and bronchitis. Doctor said absolutely no to afrin or decongestants of any kind. I had to suffer and wait it out. Slept in a recliner for about a week.
