When is baby ready for food?

People keep saying when baby shows signs? What are the signs? I’m wanting to give my baby some baby porridge when he turns 4 months but what are the signs babies ready for something other than milk?

When baby can sit up by themselves and act like they want to eat your food (trying to grab it and bring towards mouth, trying to take a bite out of your food).

Advice in UK is 6 months earliest, AND all signs of rediness:
- Sit up unaided
- Show interest in food
- Perfected pincer grip with finger and thumb
- No longer tongue thrusting as hunger cue
- Able to show when full
We won't be using baby rice etc as no nutritional benefit. "food before one is just for fun" so no need to fill them up on baby rice.

When theyre able to sit up and support their own heads. Also if theyre able to swallow liquids with spoon. You can try to give them liquid cereal and youll see if their ready. But its really up to you. I started my first with cereal at 4months.

The dr will give you the OK. Usually not till 4-6 months because their stomachs aren’t developed enough for anything besides formula or brestmilk
