To all the mothers who need to hear this.

“ Your greatest contribution to the kingdom of god may not be something you do, but someone you raise”

The importance of your motherhood is beyond comprehension. Never let what others say get in your head about the work you do daily to ensure the prosperity of your children.

When you are feeling defeated , know that your baby feels triumphant in the joy of having you as a mother.

I’m a single parent to my 16 month old son. I had him at 20 years old and got pregnant with him at 19. I was in the middle of my college degrees and got my acceptance letter to my dream university 3 weeks before I found out I was pregnant. A college that I would now never be attending. I was terrified at the thought of what my extremely religious family would think of me. Hence I hid my pregnancy for 5 months. In the end I broke their hearts .... but through it all they were my biggest support. My sons father stayed through the pregnancy, the birth.... only to realize he had no clue about babies and abandoned us. My son is the love and light of my life. He pushed me to finish school ... and I went back to do so with high honors in the end.

My story is much longer than what I told and is still not over. But I wanted to write this post as I realized something for the first time the other day. I was hung up on what one woman said to me during my pregnancy. “ You are selfish for thinking that you could ever provide a loving stable home for that baby you’re growing, you will never be able to be a successful mother to that child”

These words ring in my ears.

And I realized that they shouldn’t. Because so much good came from my son. So much light and love. And I wish I could tell that woman that I did it.... and that I did it all for him.

If you’re a single mother know that your child love you for being the one who stayed with them and loved them. You chose to be a parent and you can do it!

If you’re a young mother know that no matter what people say , if you believe you can then you will. The timing isn’t perfect ? When has life ever been by the book ? You’re child will see their amazing mother working so hard to provide for them.

If you’re a mother .... know your worth and realize the magnitude of your calling to raise a new generation. We are incredible , and powerful. We are everything in our children’s eyes even if we feel like nothing.
