3 week old... how long can he sleep for?

First time mom here! How long can my 3 week old sleep?? During the day he normally wakes on his own ( if not I’ll take him regardless and put him on the breast) every 2ish hours to eat sometimes even less and sometimes he’ll go until 3 hours but what about at night? How long can he go at night without me waking him up? I’ve read and heard 4-5 hours but I’m not too sure... can anyone give me some advice please. Thanks in advance!

From what I read, and experienced with my son, it’s not how often but how much they eat. As long as they get enough in a 24 hour period it doesn’t matter when they get it. My son ate a lot during the day and started sleeping 10 hours a night at 6 weeks. This is a subject a lot of people have opinions on so you’ll have to make your own decision but I trusted my kid. If he woke, I fed him. I never woke my kids to feed them, I waited for them to give me cues and they both were always on or ahead of growth schedule. My daughter woke more often when she was little. Trust your instincts. You know more than you know.

If baby back to birth weight and gaining weight fine. You can leave them to sleep till they wake up naturally. But as they missing feeds they need to make it up through the day of the one they missed at night.

Normally is every 2 hrs of sleeping & feeding for a newborn! By 3 months & up they sleeping 3 to 4 hrs or more!

as long as he wants! there’s no need to wake him. he will learn that food comes when he’s awake, and 3 weeks is still very new. don’t worry about it.
