Bumbo??

Question

When can I start using the bumbo seat? My LO is just over 3 months and sits up pretty well assisted but his head is just a little too wobbly for me to put him in it yet. When is a good time to start?

Like the jumperoo and door bouncers, there is official advice that using items that mimic an action before baby can do it themselves is bad for their development of that skill. So for instance a walker when they cant walk, a bumbo when they can't sit.
I have one, my boy is just over three months and has good neck control but can't sit yet. I put him in there for around 5 minutes, as I think it helps him strengthen his neck and he's better at grabbing toys in that position. So I think there are benefits in other areas aside from the potential detriment of his sitting skill.
He tired quickly though and after like 5 mins he'll grunt and his neck starts to flop so out he comes. I would never leave him unattended in it at the moment, it's literally just a quick dip to see him grasp at toys and an asidtion to tummy time for his neck.
Once he can sit unaided I think it's OK to have them in there longer

My baby is 13 weeks old, we tried it the other day. She sat fine I only had her in it for a few minutes because she looked bored haha I’ll prob try again in another week or so. The sit me up by Fischer price is better and she has more fun in it.

As soon as he has good head control but even then I would only put them in for 5-10 mins at a time once a day at the most and always supervised

12 weeks old tmr and tried the bumbo for the first time last night. He looooved it! But I had him directly in front of me and he was only in there for maybe 10 mins?

We’ve been using it for a few weeks. My baby can sit extremely well and has really good neck control. If he was still floppy I wouldn’t use it. Even now it’s used in shorter bursts maybe 10 minutes tops and very closely monitored. He’s 3 mos
