What would you do. Take mom's advice or?

So I'm 40 weeks 4 days I'm being induced tomorrow night expecting baby Sunday. My mom says I should wait until baby comes on his own she thinks he will come on July 4th but I'm tired and sore and just want my son out. I'll be a day shy of 41 weeks and my doctor picked these dates to be checked in and have baby. Should I take my mom's advice or go in. I didn't dilate at all in a weeks time. Was still at a cm from week 39 to weeks 40. That's why I'm being induced.

Your mom has no idea when your baby will be born. I would be induced. The risk of stillbirth has increased, placental issues, and your risk of having to have a c section since your baby keeps getting bigger.

Is there a medical reason for you being induced? Like is the baby too big or do you have high BP or something?

I wouldn’t be induced if there are no concerns about yours of the baby’s health. A lack of dilation is a poor reason to induce as you still have a while to go and some people dilate very close to or even during labour so checking dilation is pointless and only the slightly backward antenatal care being provided by many doctors in the USA still check it before labour :) x

If there is no reason for you to be induced other than being uncomfortable I would personally just wait. Your baby will come when it’s ready. If there is some kind of medical reason then by all means listen to your doctor👍🏼

My Dr doesn't allow going past 41 weeks because all kinds of problems can arise after that. I'm sure many have done so and have been fine, but statistically the risks go up quite a bit.

I agree with your mom. Sometimes due dates and weight estimates are wrong. In the overwhelming majority of cases, your body and your baby's body know what to do. I wouldn't rush it unless there was an immediate medical danger of waiting.

My mom carried me and my brother over our due dates so she thinks baby will be fine. I trust her completely but I myself was high risk from multiple miscarriages and my doctor just wants to induce because my cervix hasn't changed in dilation and baby is still high up. She's more hopeful that baby would've came on his own on the 4th but I'm not to sure about that. I haven't had a contraction or any BH at all. Just lost a bit of my mucus plug last night but I know that don't mean anything really.

Well I mean I think you should listen to what your doctor thinks is best if you want to wait a little bit longer and your doctor said it was ok then I guess do it to make your mom happy but if doctor requested early induce then I will definitely listen to your doctor over your mom
