Secretly engaged

Ok, so for the longest time me and my other half have spoke about getting married and whatnot. And we used to joke about being ‘verbally engaged’ cause I never had a ring.

A few days back we decided he would pick his fave ring from my jewellery box (we are not in the money right now, thats all I shall say) and use that. And I’m over the moon! I couldn’t care less if it was my own ring or a big fancy ass diamond one. He could literally tie a piece of straw round my finger and I’d be happy!

Here’s the thing though, no one knows. 🙈 We did it in private, no big announcement on social media. We haven’t even told family. We both suffer from anxiety and can’t handle the thought of everyone on our backs asking constant questions. And we want to save up for the actually wedding day, and want to get in shape. So we are gonna be having a long engagement anyway.

He says he wants to save up for a better ring too but I honestly don’t care, would rather he saved what he would spend on the ring for something for the actual wedding day.

Everyone practically refers to us as being married already anyway lmao. Best part is I’ve worn this specific ring multiple times so it will fly under the radar for now until we are ready to announce. And when I say, the ring feels different, I mean that. It was so strange, the minute he put it on my hand it was no long just a piece of jewellery. (Another reason I don’t care what ring it is cause no matter what it is, it will feel special)

As it stands, I’m just enjoying time with my gorgeous fiance! (Fuck I love saying that)

Has anyone else ever done something similar? We just decided that the hassle of everything wasn’t worth it and just got engaged on our own terms lol. We will tell everyone eventually, but for now I enjoy it being our little secret. And after all, we did this for us not for everyone else to look at.
