Tips on teaching 10 y/o to swim

☆ Nicole ☆ • I`m a LVT .. I love to hunt, target shoot, hike, swim, ride bike anything outdoors.

So my son, he has had this love hate relationship with water his whole life. At 6 months old he was terrified of being in a baby floating and even feeling the water touch him

At the age 2 I got him past that and he loved water he was jumping into the deep end with me catching him and repeating that for hours.

By early child hood he was scared of water again.

He is now 10 and confortable in the water. He does not like water in his eyes. But otherwise he is comfortable with it.

He has been in 2 swimming classes and has not gotten far with either of them. He was with the YMCA and Red Cross learn to swim program.

So I was going to try conquering it myself. Was just looking for tips on maybe how to help him get over water in his eyes. He hates goggles, he wont wear them doesnt like how they feel.

I was going to

1. Talk to him about how water works and how things can float and how things can sink so he understands the concept of water.

2. See how well he does with floating

3. Use a kick board to have him do a few laps in the pool on his back and face down

4. Teach hin strokes and breathing techniques

5. Teach him how to tred water.
