My husband banned my brother from ever coming over to our place.
Long story that I needed to get off my chest somewhere. Not really looking for an answer.
A little back story, my brother has been in and out of prison since he was 16. I have known my husband since I was 16. My brother and I don't really have a relationship anymore than saying hi and bye anymore.
So that said I have 2 dogs, a German Shepard mix and a korgi mix. My dogs do not like my brother. Since I haven't been able to have children of my own yet (PCOS, a miscarriage, and other problems), my dogs are my babies. My Shepard loves to play with anyone, but I'm guessing since my brother has been in and out of jail doesn't like Shepards and Ghost (the German shepard) can tell.
So I still have some mail going to my parents house, which my brother still lives there (he is 35), and today he brought me my mail. I had just gotten back from the store with my mother in law and I was really tired. I heard a knock on the door thinking it was my father in law saying I forgot something in the car. Not thinking, I open the door and there stands my brother.
Now anyone that knows dogs knows they go straight to the door when they hear anything. So I open the door to see my brother and immediately know I have to restrain my dog. You don't run from a barking dog...ever! My little dog (Lady) started to chase him and I held onto Ghost. I hear my brother yell, "If I had my gun, he would have a bullet in his head."
Note: Ghost didn't bite him or attack, lady didn't bite, she thought he was playing because he ran. He threatened my dog in his home. Also note that my brother is a heron dealer (not sure how to spell it). I know some dogs know a bad person, and my brother really is a sack of....poop.
I told my husband what happened and what my brother said and since Ghost is his therapy dog and our fur baby, he was pissed.
This wasn't the first time my brother has threatened or even killed one of my dogs. When I was in middle school, I had a dog that played a little too rough when I came home from school and she bit me. He immediately got his gun and shot her. I didn't know what to do.
So I ask you guys, are we in the wrong for banning my brother from coming near our home or should we work harder in training our dog? Ghost has never attacked anyone before and is only aggressive toward my brother. He loves anyone that will play with him. I don't know if he can smell the drugs in my brother or what.
