Baby glasses?

So my 2.5 year old just got glasses yesterday and I have a few questions for mamas who had kiddos with glasses from a young age. 
Any tips on getting him to leave them on? He will leave them on for awhile but then takes them off and doesn’t want them back on. 
How do you know that they are the right prescription? They used this machine to check his vision

How accurate is it? The machine said that he is very near sighted which is what I had been thinking (he was getting so close to everything trying to see it and he was tripping over everything) I guess I just assumed when he got the glasses he would want to leave them on since they would make him see better but since he doesn’t want to leave them on long I’m questioning if it’s not the right prescription?
How long did it take for them to get used to glasses?

Optometrist here. Did they dilate his eyes before taking the test? And did they only use the automatic test, not the retinoscopy (where they use a special light, checking reflection). 
It's very rare for kids to be that nearsighted so early, unless the parents are extremely nearsighted. And kids tend to want way more -power than they need. 
As for wearing the glasses, it can often feel odd in the beginning. I often compare it to a new pair of shoes. Give it at least 14days, wear them as much as possible. Unless he also have high astigmatism it's not a problem to take them of while reading, looking at things close. 
I also highly recommend looking into myopia controll with multifocal contact lenses (the earlier the better)

My son has the same glasses! He got glasses at 18months. After a Couple days he stopped playing with them and kept them on because he realized he could see better with them on. His eye doctor didnt use a machine like that. They put drops in his eyes and did some kind of light test and kept putting different lenses up to his eyes. He had one eye that would cross occasionally but he ended being near sighted as well.
