Should I white wash my fireplace?

So, my husband and I bought a house about a year ago and have been remodeling it ever since- see one of my earlier posts for more pics.

We have painted these built in book shelves white, and left the fire place alone. But, we Are going back and forth on if we should whitewash it.

We don’t want to paint it white, and I would still like some of the red undertones coming through. Help??

The first pic is what it looked like when we bought the house, the second is what it looks like now. The bottom picture is our inspiration picture.

Just ignore that white board sitting on the fireplace lol
