Is it a double ear infection or his molars coming in??

My 3 year old has been complaining and of his left ear hurting and I thought it could swimmers ear because we have been on vacation swimming every day well I bought him some swimmers ear drops and had been giving him some Tylenol because he was also running a fever well 3 days went by and his ear wasn’t bothering him so much anymore well all of a sudden the next day his other ear was bothering him and now I thought he was making this up to cry and fuss more... because every few hours it was a different ear hurting well the next day he was just sucking and chewing on his fingers and slobbering everywhere which he has never done before and I couldn’t get him to stop so I checked his mouth and all 4 of his back molars look like they are trying to break threw so now I’m wondering if this could be a double ear infection or just his molars coming in ???
