Why are MIL always annoying

We live with my mil sadly, well lately I've been so stressed out so my husband asked his mom to watch my son for an hour so we could go out to dinner alone, well she has watch my son and his 2 kids all at once before and never asked for us to pay her, but tonight with it being just my son who is 4 he is very easy to watch, she told him to pay her back he needs to fill her van up with gas completely. Why all of a sudden just watching your step grandson you want us to pay you back but never asks when she watches his kids who are 2 and 7 months?
