I think I'd like to get a wand!

Cake • It's called the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.
-- I'm a pencil artist - I've been drawing since before I could walk. Pencils and other drawing utensils I feel are a literal extension of my hand and myself (as literal as that can get anyways).
-- From what I've read, this is how a wand should be. I heard it's best to make your own, and I found a list of various trees that you can make them from and what they're good for. But none of the sites are consistent on their info D: I need to know HOW to make one (i.e. do I need a ritual knife? Are certain designs better? How big should it be?) what types of things I can potentially do with one, if one will help with my visualization (such as drawing in mid air and seeing what I'm drawing better) and things like that.
-- Does anyone have a good website for me to check out on wands?? What has worked for you?? No Harry Potter jokes, please .___.;;

I have a Willow wand that I'm making myself.I would suggest find a large patch of trees and see what calls to you. Also if you make it yourself, only work on it when the feeling hits. If you try to force it you'll never be happy with the results.

I know that It should be made on a Wednesday and should be no longer than your forearm. I have a cedar wand with an amethyst on the tip. I use it mainly for healing and sometimes spell casting I didn't make it but I got it from the oldest occult shop in my city and I asked about how /when it was made and by whom.  I cleansed and consecrated it myself and carved a symbol into it so to make it mine. I keep it wrapped up in a cloth only use it when my intuition asks me to. I do more workings with my staff than anything

And the staff I made. So I meant to say making it is much more powerful if that is to be your main tool for casting

I follow the Old Norse Gods. Ultimately my goal is to be a vövla(But seeing as how I'm married that's not really going to happen, but I'll still try!). It's one of the most respected positions in society, as I can practice magic, read rune stones, speak to the Gods, the fae and anyone else more fluently than others.Vövlas were married to the wand. The best way to find a good wand is to make one yourself. I haven't found mine yet, but the general idea is that you cleanse yourself, and ask your tumtar to accompany you into the woods, mostly for protection and avoiding the fae. Wander around, touch things, eventually you'll feel a pull towards a specific type of tree.As my main deities are Thor and Eir I seem to be drawn to red oaks, and any sort of medicinal plants like rosemary or peppermint.

I have absolutely no idea, but I'll comment to bump it. :) If the internet isn't helpful, are there reliable texts that might address these questions? I'm not sure if the construction/use of wands has a strong historical tradition that might be recorded in print or whether that kind of information would have been passed down orally.

As of right now I'm thinking it's mostly oral - or passed down through Grimoires (which are insanely hard to come by). But I'm thinking my best bet would be books instead of online. Just dunno where to start. Thanks for the bump lol :)
