Did Metformin help with pcos/ fertility?

So I have very irregular periods because of pcos and I’m also dealing with infertility. My doctor just prescribed me Metformin to regulate the periods and help with weight loss which will hopefully help w/ getting pregnant. I have heard horrible stories about Metformin and I’m so scared it start it. :( Just wanted to ask here if anyone had any luck with it?

My mom was told she could never have children. (Used IVF for me) and at 40 she got on metformin and ended up pregnant with my brother a few months later.

I got put on it for pcos and in two months I was pregnant! Go for it! There’s a terrible side effect on your stomach for like two weeks but it’s totally worth it many blessings to you!!😘

I was on it 2 years.. never worked...i did ovulate finally  .but never pregnant....don't miss all the pooping with that pill...i went straight to IVF after that. God bless you!

I just started taking it also and my period came 3 days after taking my last pill. My period seems to be lasting a long time and heavy. But I’m truly hoping I ovulate this month. PCOS sucks...
