Scared about college

Brittany • 19. keeping track while I make bad decisions
I'm a senior in high school and haven't had the best 4 years... I will be graduating with a 3.0 (have a 2.8 now) that i worked my ass off to get. My family didn't save any money for me and we have no money...I dont even live with my parents, haven't since 7th grade. I have no money, not the best test scores and not the best gpa. I'm losing hope fast... If anyone could give me advice, I would appreciate it.

Look into a community college. They can help you with financial aid options and it is cheaper than 4 year schools. They also give you the option to raise your gpa so you can later transfer into a 4 year school.

How physically fit are you? I ask because the military is always an option. The best decision Ive ever made was enlisting. I learned life lessons that only the military could provide, had the honor and priviledge of serving with first class men and women, and earned my education after fullfilling my contract. I had a great experience, but that is because I worked hard and kept my head in the game. Everyone's experience is different. Maybe its not for you, and maybe it is. Never hurts to talk to a recruiter...I will tell you though, recruiters want to make their numbers each month, so they will say anything and everything to get you to sign up. If you go, be firm in your position that you are only there for information and if YOU decide (nobody but you!) that youd like to enlist, get everything they offer you in writting, example: sign on bonuses, MOS (job), etc.

Thank you so much! I never realize how frustrating it would be but it helps knowing I'm not alone.

I'm hoping to be recruited for Soccer. But I have looked into it and definitely open to it.

Community college for one semester to get a good GPA then a good State school (or out of state!)! Get that experience! You won't regret it. Be smart and don't take out more than you need.

Look into technical schools. Financial aid is available.

I'm a professor and I notice how most of my students have no jobs coming out of a four year university. But all my students in trade school have jobs lined up.

Meaning I have a low chance on getting into a decent school..... I hate that. I want the experience but not the debt.

Financial aid. Not all parents save money, not everybody has parents, that shouldn't be your issue. You can do it if you really want too. 💪🏼

Why are you going to college in the first place? If I have any regrets in life, it's that I wish I hadn't gone right after highschool. I didn't know what I wanted to do. I had no money neither did my parents. I relied on financial aid and loans now I have a ton of debt I'll never get out of, and on top of that I don't even use that degree. I reccomend the military. You have a great opportunity there to save tons of money and when you get out, your education is paid for by gi bill. You only have to do 4-6 years which go by super fast. It looks great on future resumes, and there are all kinds of programs and benifits for veterans. Not to mention I still use my veterans id and get awesome discounts all over the place. I got into seaworld for free.
