Driving after birth?

So I am planning a home birth, but my midwife informed me that if it's a busy time when I have baby I would have to go to the hospital where they are. My husband is excluded from my car insurance and isn't able to drive my car.(he had a suspension from 2 years ago and it would just be ridiculously expensive to have him on it) So question is if i have to go to hospital, am I able to be the one to drive home even if it's right after baby is born? Still trying to figure out how I would actually get there in labor....
