Not needing to like your step kids
I was listening to a podcast last week where a man had written in about loving a woman with a child he did not like. Another listener wrote in this week saying that its OKAY to not like your step children. You can step into a father/mother figure role and not necessarily have to love, or even like, your partner's child as long as the child is still cared for and respected.
She goes on to say that there is an unfair pressure put on new partners/spouses to unconditionally love the child and feel about the child the same way you would your own biological children.
I'm interested in what others think. Do you think its okay to not like or love your partners kids/your step kid?

Added question: What if you are head over heels for the person, but you're kid hates your partner?
