Must haves/tips for baby number 2?

My first will be 3 in dec and I’m due in sept. While I have great support, I’m a single mom so it’ll be just me 99% of the time wrangling the two. I think I’m pretty set on what we need but curious...What are your best tips & Product must-haves? TIA

A baby carrier saved my mind. And I agree with finding somebody to play with your first sometimes (or keep them in daycare if they already go). I kept mine in daycare during my maternity leave and it was best for all of us. And let your first take his time adjusting and give him space. It took my first 2 weeks to want to hold his baby brother, we asked every once in a while and simply said “ok” when he said no.

Get your older child a baby doll. We did this with my 18 month old when I was about 7 months pregnant and showed him how to be gentle with the baby, put a diaper on it, etc and now that my newborn is a month old, we do things with our “babies” together. I let him put a new diaper on the doll while I change the newborns diaper. He tucks his doll into the baby swing any time my newborn isn’t in there. It’s honestly helped a ton and made him feel really involved with his brother.

Find a neighborhood teenager to come and play with your toddler for a few hours a few times a week.
