I Believe It’s Time For A Break

I don’t think I’ve ever posted anything in this group, but I’ve seen some astounding accomplishments women have achieved!❤️👏🏼

I will be 16 on Friday and I’ve been vegan for two years. I started working out shortly after. I started with 3 days of exercising a week and when gym class started second semester (had health class 1st semester), I immediately started exercising 6 days a week (2-3 days of gym workouts & 3-4 home/gym workouts). It was toxic, I had such an unhealthy mindset with food.. and I wanted to change that (with becoming vegan). So I backed down to 5 days of exercising a week and eating whatever I wanted (mostly healthy). Well this year has been such a [crappy] year! July 31st, 2018, I had surgery, making me take a break for 4 weeks. New Years came and I started getting really bad wrist pains, then in April I got Costochondritis from exercising, then I hurt my hip flexor, and now I’m having pains every time after I run.

I think it’s time for a break until school starts again. It freaks me out a bit because I LOVE exercising. It makes me feel confident in what I’m enabled to do (I have mild cerebral palsy so it mostly affects my muscles and not so much my brain). It relieves my anxiety and depression. And as much as I’m scared to lose that, I’ve reminded myself that I’m 16!! I have [hopefully] a long life to live. I may not meet the previous fitness goals in gym class, I didn’t last year because of my surgery. And that’s okay. A fitness “test” that makes me run for 12 minutes, do sit-ups for a minute, do a “sit-n-reach” for flexibility, and a hand-held dynamometer will not EVER define me. I am much more than a fitness score. I’m human. I have a great personality & it’s going to benefit me more than secluding myself due to the “need” of excessive exercise.
