Can a father voluntarily give up his parental rights? In CA?

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this? If a father is willing to give up his parental rights, can he do that? Is there a court process? I would like to speak to a lawyer, but I probably won't get to until the end of the year or even next year. Plus I don't have enough money for that right now. But I really wanted to start getting an idea. Thank you!

Depending on where you’re at in California, you could find free legal help. I did when I was in San Diego. There’s tons of resources out there. I think they can voluntarily give up parental rights, but there certainly is a court process for that. If you’re not married though, you may be able to simply do nothing and live life with your little one unencumbered
