Why didn’t he comfort me?

I just received some unfortunate news from my doctor. I had been on the phone with my bc afterwards and had told him after I started crying and he asked what was wrong. So I told him and he said nothing. He sat there in silence. And then proceeded to change the conversation. And so now I’m just even more upset on top of everything else. I don’t know if he stayed silent bc he just didn’t care or if he was just uncomfortable or what the case was.
