how bad can postpartum depression get left untreated?

i have postpartum depression and even ended up in the psych ward. i never take my meds, honestly i just assume it’ll go away on its own. everyone tells me to seek therapy but i really don’t have time to go sit and talk to someone who gets paid to not give a crap. i absolutely HATE the way any type of anti depressants make me feel. they honestly make me a zombie that gains weight.
anyways, i wanna hear stories how far it’s taken you until you saw help

Some women have killed or severely injured their babies or themselves due to postpartum depression. If you are blindly not seeking some sort of help you are putting your entire family at risk for danger. Someone women take years to “get over” ppd...

Women kill themselves or their kids when they have severe PPD. I’ve read several stories where moms drowned their babies in bathtubs one by one, drove their car into the ocean with the children in it, or they jumped out of moving cars to kill them selves. It’s something that needs to be treated before it gets too bad and you do something you can’t take back. Take your meds and time for yourself.

PPD is no joke. It is a serious mental health concern and should be taken as such. 
Going on and off medication will make emotions worse because they’re in constant chemical rebound. 
There are a ton of shitty therapists. It took 5 for me to find my own that’s wonderful. 
I tell my own clients it’s almost like dating. There has to be compatibility. If not we shouldn’t write off dating. Just find a better match.
Therapists get paid for their time and expertise. Not to care. Find one that cares. They’re out there and you and your kiddo are worth it.

It took me a month to admit it and get help. My dr has taken it very seriously and worked really hard to get my meds right. (I haven’t been this happy or felt this good in years) I still have bad days but everyone does. She also gave me the # for an at home therapist (that was paid for in full by my insurance) knowing I was a sahm that didn’t drive. 
I have seen many stories and personally know moms that have taken their on lives and the lives of there babies. Please get help! Being a mom is hard as hell, and anyone who tells you it’s not a shit show is lieing. But you are worth it, fight for yourself. 
The best thing my dr told me is, “ there’s nothing wrong with YOU, it’s your hormones. And we CAN fix that” so please get help

I was suicidal before I sought help. I HATE how my antidepressant makes me feel but I love my son more and lord knows my husband would be useless in caring for him without me so I take it and I go to an hour of counseling once a week. Did I mention that I do this between my 3 jobs. You can make the time to take care of yourself

Please let Me say this....dont stop trying a medicine! That is so important. You will eventually find one that suits you. Klonopin has been my saving grace by far. Wellbutrin acts on different receptors than most of the SSRIs that never worked for me. I took wellbutrin for as year it helped, but not like klonopin did. Best of luck to you

I went to a therapist three weeks Postpartum. They said it was the baby blues but I kept going. I loved my therapist. When we identified PPD and PPA she suggested medication but to talk with my doctor first. I continued therapy for 8 more weeks. Still no medication. The depression slowly went away but my anxiety is a fight every day that I slowly overcome. I am now 17 weeks Postpartum. Don’t close yourself off to things that may help you. Be open minded and practice self care. It sounds like you had a rough time and are still facing challenges. You need to talk with someone who isn’t going to judge you and a great therapist does just that. You can interview them to determine they are a good fit for YOU! If the medication is really messing with you speak up and have your family speak up with you. Don’t let this beat you. There is light at the end of the tunnel no matter how far it seems.
