18 year old having sex with a minor (16) now 17?

my mom wants the guy i had sex with who is 18 arrested for having sex with me ( a minor at age 16, now 17). just out of curiosity has anyone had there parents try to do the same thing? what was the outcome? reply's would be greatly appreciated. i live in california where the laws seem to say that it is one year in jail??? is it even possible for them to arrest him without me giving a statement or admitting it to the police?
*we also go to the same school and are both still in high school*

If they want to press charges on him they can because you are still underage and he is 18 doesn't matter how close In age you are  and he will be put under a sex offender list if your mom does press charges on him

If your mom presses charges against him there is nothing you can do to stop her because your a minor. He may be charged with Statutory Rape because you consented but you were still a minor. Every 18 year old guy I’m friends with said they wouldn’t even think about that until I was 18, they even nicknamed me ‘Jailbait’ lol. He should have been responsible enough to know that you were off limits as a minor, So this is a possible consequence for his actions. In the state I’m from we have a Romeo and Juliet clause which your state have, and it basically says if they are under 4 years older than you it’s okay. You should do your research to see what laws are in your state

I had the same situation basically. Boyfriends 23 and I was 17. Look up the statutory rape laws in your state. Luckily in my state 16 was the legal age of consent as long as this person held no position over you; like teachers ect. Keep your head up.

It depends on the laws where you are at. In my state if you are under 16 and an 18 year old has sex with you, the parents can press charges regardless of what you say. But if it happens after you turn 16, they can't do anything because you are legaly considered old enough to consent. I've had a similar experience with a family member and her stupid boyfriend. In her case, she would have been better of had the law been able to step in and kick him out of her life. She's stuck in a very toxic and abusive relationship with him. She's so deeply manipulated by him now that im not sure how or when she will ever break away. That has nothing to do with their ages and sex though. Check the laws in your area, but I think you and your boyfriend will be fine. I doubt she would actually press charges even if she can.
