Bridesmaids buying their own things?

Is it wrong for a bride to make her bridesmaids pay for their own things like dress, shoes jewellery? Id absolutely love to pay for everything but with 3 bridesmaids it’s such an extra cost which makes me question it.

All of the weddings I’ve been in, we’ve paid for our own dresses and shoes. Typically the bride gave us all a bracelet or something that she wanted us to wear as our gift.

I think it depends on how much you’re asking of them. Like if you want very specific things, instead of just saying match the color scheme, then it would be inconsiderate to expect them to pay especially if the items were expensive.

I’m getting married next year and I’m picking a dress but I’m making sure they all like it. They will pay for everything except their hair and makeup before the wedding.

Typically the bridesmaids pay for the dress and shoes, while the jewelry worn by the bridesmaids is purchased by the bride and given to the bridesmaids as a gift. Also if you plan on using a hair and makeup artist for the bridesmaids, that is usually something that the bride pays for.

I think indeed it depends on how demanding you are, how expencive it turns out and if they will still have a use for it after your wedding as well.
Also if you know one of your bridesmaids has for example trouble paying for the rent,, would you still demand for them to buy certain items? That's just being conciderate and humane..
