Why do they not have you come in right away?

My sister in laws having a miscarriage and the doctor(same as mine). Told her to just come in tomorrow for her scheduled appointment. Shouldn’t they have her come in right away. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that she’s losing her baby and they want her to wait to come in.☹️

Unfortunately they can’t do anything for her, so that’s most likely why they’re having her wait.

Because there is literally nothing they can do for her. Unless she is hemmoraging and needs to go to the hospital for emergency bleeding or transfusion, all she can do is finish the miscarriage and then they do an ultrasound to make sure everything came out. It's sad but it's the reality.

They can’t do anything at all, so they can’t make extra space and bump someone else’s appointment for her. 
It’s strictly professional and while they do understand it’s emotionally straining, there’s nothing about it they can change.

When I had my first missed miscarriage discovered during my ultrasound, they scheduled me an appointment, giving me an option to either have a surgery or have a pill inserted. I was in so much pain the night before the morning appointment, we had to call an ambulance, I was given tons of morphine, and I stayed 3 days in the hospital. They confirmed the pregnancy wasn’t longer there and therefore the foetus was out too. 2 days later it came right out, I bled through 3 pads in like 5 seconds, lost a lot of blood, and went back to the hospital. I do agree that sometimes it might be a little too late.

An ultrasound might not even be able to tell them at this point. She’ll probably have to get her hcg checked 48 hours apart in addition to ultrasound to confirm.

Just because she bleeding doesn’t means she having a miscarriage. anyway there’s nothing they can do if she is. Tomorrow they will do an ultrasound and if baby is fine then maybe check to se cause of bleeding and to see if hcg doubles but if not then they can only make sure that she passed it and that level go back down

They wouldn't be able to do anything to stop it but it still seems kinda strange to me too. I would think they'd want to confirm it asap.

They can’t do anything unfortunately. Just gotta let it flow. See if she passes it on her own and confirm tomorrow probably with ultrasound
